From the perspective of a soul nestled within a womb, music must be a tapestry of softened pulses and deep, resonant vibrations—a language of rhythm whispered through layers of warmth and water. Each note from the outside world, even oppressing, must be a wave, carried by the currents of amniotic fluid, blending into a symphony of muffled thuds, hums, and distant echoes.
Music here is certainly not merely heard; it is felt, swaddling the unborn listener in a mix of rhythm and breath—a chorus set to the timeless percussion of an outside world, entirely stranger to us. It is a tense lullaby of life before life.
In a very personal interpretation, it feels as though David Maranha’s electric organ evokes this experience, this unique point of view of what sounds might be like within a womb.
Rodrigo Amado’s saxophone, on the other hand, would be the voice of life to come, reacting to its environment, to its world of muffled sounds. From this perspective, its voice is the clear one—the precise, distinctive one—reacting and influenced by an invisible outside world, felt rather than seen, but also interacting with it, possibly.
From the title—Wrecks—we can understand that the above analogy is certainly not what the artists had in mind while performing the music. Yet, we can feel that this isolated voice, wrapped in something mysterious, omnipresent, more than often even pressing, and always indescribable, exists. And this voice makes itself heard, participating, as in a beautiful duet, playing along, even though stressed, rather than staying quiet.
This music envelops the listener, creating an experience that is both organic and profoundly immersive.
